4 Things You Need To Stop Doing If You’re Trying To Lose Weight

If you’re trying to lose weight, there’s a good chance you have a lot of preconceptions about the whole process, have heard comments from other people about certain aspects and have taken them on board, irrelevant of whether they’re truthful or not.

Therefore, if you’re trying to lose weight, before you go any further, take a look through the following four points of things you need to stop doing if you’re wanting to shed those extra pounds.

1. Going food shopping on an empty stomach – simple and straightforward, if you go to the supermarket to do your food shopping on an empty stomach, you’ll find that you put a lot of food items into your trolley that you don’t actually need or which are relatively unhealthy because you’re hungry and you fancy them at the time.

Have a meal before you go shopping and chances are you’ll go out to the supermarket, get everything that’s on your list and be back at home much quicker than you would have been if you had went shopping on an empty stomach.

2. Eating out – this is a point that’s argued about with dieting, as some believe you are fine to go out for a meal if you’re on a diet, as long as you choose a healthy option.

The food isn’t the problem, however and it’s the accompanying items such as beer and wine, bread rolls and even something extra to eat when you’re home – if you’ve been out drinking, there’s a very good chance that you’ll be wanting something to nibble by the time you get in – that can see you put on weight.

3. Being lazy – to a certain extent, everyone is lazy, as it’s human nature to try and find the quickest and easiest way to do something.

Whilst this may be good in some respects, for health and fitness, it can have a detrimental effect on your weight loss. Fortunately, getting out of your lazy habits is relatively easy.

For example, if you usually take the lift to your office, take the stairs instead. Park in a car park close to work? Think about one an extra five or 10 minutes walk away.

These might only seem like small points, but by changing them, you can incorporate a lot of extra exercise into your day.

4. Thinking gyms aren’t for you – everyone exercises in their own way, with some people exercising more intensely and regularly than others.

There are some people, however, who try to workout at home because they don’t think that gyms are for them for whatever reason, be it they’ve heard gyms in London are expensive or that the people who go are unsociable and unfriendly.

The simple fact is you can’t judge what gyms in London, for example, are going to be like until you go and try them yourself. You might be right and they might not work for you, but it would be particularly surprising if you couldn’t find one gym that was suited to your needs and tastes.
