Guerilla Marketing

There are so many products or services that need marketing, but budgets often seem too tight for marketing. And then there’s guerrilla marketing. With guerrilla marketing, a successful marketing campaign can be achieved on a low budget. Marketing jobs that deal with guerrilla marketing are low in expenses because they rely on creativity and persistence. The goal is to attract a limited clientele, hook their attention, and hopefully create a buzz. In other words, the goal is to go viral.

What does viral mean? This is an important term in today’s marketing jobs because it is has become so prominent. To demonstrate what viral means, take the video of a Winnipeg girl for example. After just 24 hours after a young girl uploaded a cover song for Lady Gaga, she received over one million hits. That is the power of viral marketing; producing a great burst of attention in a short amount of time.

Guerrilla marketing tries to achieve that, but because no one can really ascertain whether something will go viral, it takes a lot of persistence and creativity. Once one method shows little to no results, a marketer should attempt to try another method. It has to be a method that defies tradition and targets a wide variety of audiences. This is one of the most difficult jobs in marketing ; forming and putting a creative idea to action.

On the other hand, one of the great things about guerrilla marketing is that anyone can take it with their own hands. An entrepreneur or a small business with a low budget can rely on creativity and persistence to get their business running. Jobs in marketing vary so much that many people will find it difficult to find someone who can do a a great job. For guerrilla marketing, someone can use their current employers or even use the help of their friends or family to spread the word about their business. Creating a though provoking idea and sharing it around the community can provide the buzz that a business requires.

Guerrilla marketing can be a viable outlet for small businesses and entrepreneurs because it focuses on individuals or past clients. A business can refer to past clients and aim to boost their referrals instead of trying to form new relationships. By strengthening relationships between previous clients, good words can quickly spread. This can reach a wide variety of people that may never have taken interest on a particular business before.
